Jesus Reached Out to Give Us a Helping Hand (Hebrews 2:17)

Jesus Reached Out to Give Us a Helping Hand (Hebrews 2:17)

"For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people” (Hebrews 2:17)

It is not trivial that Jesus entered into humanity as a man. Nor is it something He did lightly. Philippians 2:7 says that He emptied Himself of all divine privileges, born under the kingdom of darkness as a slave. He did this to give us a helping hand. God Thinks Highly of Mankind (Hebrews 2:16)

"For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham's descendants" (Hebrews 2:16)

Part 2 of 2

Jesus prayed an amazing thing for us in His High Priestly prayer in John 17. "I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. The Greek word for glory is Doxa, which signifies an "opinion, estimate, and hence, the honor resulting from a good opinion” (Vines Dictionary). God is the originator of every good thought. Jesus is saying that the thoughts, opinions and estimate of what God thinks about Jesus is what God also thinks about us. This is incredible!
